अग्ने॒ वेर्हो॒त्रं वेर्दू॒त्यमव॑तां॒ त्वां द्यावा॑पृथि॒वीऽअव॒ त्वं द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी स्वि॑ष्ट॒कृद्दे॒वेभ्य॒ऽइन्द्र॒ऽआज्ज्ये॑न ह॒विषा॑ भू॒त्स्वाहा॒ सं ज्योति॑षा॒ ज्योतिः॑॥९॥

अग्ने वेर्हात्रँवेर्दूत्यम् अवतांन्त्वान्द्यावापृथिवीऽअव त्वन्द्यावापृथिवी स्विष्टकृद्देवेभ्यऽइन्द्रऽआज्येन हविषा भूत्स्वाहा सञ्ज्योतिषा ज्योतिः ॥

अग्नेः। वेः। होत्रम्। वेः। दूत्यम्। अवताम्। त्वाम्। द्यावापृथिवीऽइति द्यावाऽपृथिवी। अव। त्वम्। द्यावापृथिवीऽइति द्यावाऽपृथिवी। स्विष्टकृदिति स्विष्टऽकृत्। देवेभ्यः। इन्द्रः। आज्येन। हविषा। भूत्। स्वाहा। सम्। ज्योतिषा। ज्योतिः॥९॥
Translation -
O fire, undertake duties of the priest and those of the messenger. May heaven and earth protect you. Protect heaven and earth. May the resplendent Lord be gracious to learned people by this oblation of melted butter. Svaha. May the light mingle with light. (1)
Notes -
Veh, undertake. Uvata derives this word from विद् ज्ञाने and translates it as ‘may you know’. Hotram, duties of the priest. Dutyam, duties of the messenger. Svistkrt, one who does as desired, i. e. gracious. Havisa, with the offering. Sam jyotisa jyotih, gacchatam is to be added to complete the meaning. May the light mingle with light.
