    Purport -

    O men ! That Supreme God who is the most Ancient, Possessor of truthfulness and other attributes, existed from all eternity, when none else was existent. Then at the beginning of the creation Self-Effulgent God thought of creating the universe. He created thoughtful men, other animals, plants and ordinary men. In order to set up mutual behaviour among men and animals in proper way, with His Omnicient power He manifested the Vedas, which contain all true knowledge. For men of thoughtful nature God alone is fit object to be glorified, praised and adored. God who has the power to illumine, has created all the lumineous objects like sun etc. He by His Might has created 'Svargaloka'¹ [Heaven, special kind of happiness] and other spheres in the intermediate sphere. He has manifested the middle spheres like the earth etc. and the lowest called the hell-special types of miseries and all the visible planets are created by Him. The Lord who is 900 Be, Being, Bliss is the bestower of true knowledge. The learned men know Him as Agni-[Inspirer and Bestower of knowledge]. We should worship Him alone.
