आयं गौः पृश्नि॑रक्रमी॒दस॑दन्मा॒तरं॑ पु॒रः। पि॒तरं॑ च प्र॒यन्त्स्वः॑ ॥
स्वर सहित पद पाठआ । अ॒यम् । गौ: । पृश्नि॑: । अ॒क्र॒मी॒त् । अस॑दत् । मा॒तर॑म् । पु॒र: । पि॒तर॑म् । च॒ । प्र॒ऽयन् । स्व᳡: ॥३१.१॥

आयं गौः पृश्निरक्रमीदसदन्मातरं पुरः। पितरं च प्रयन्त्स्वः ॥

Translation -
This Earth revolves in the space, it revolves with its mother water inits orbit. It moves round its father, the sun.
Footnote -
Water is the mother of Earth as Earth is produced by the mixture of the particles of water with its own particles, and remains pregnant with water. Sun is the father of the Earth, as from the sun, it derives all light and sustenance. See Yajur, 3-6. See Sama, 630, and Rig, 10-186-1.
