Subject of the mantra - In this mantra, God has preached qualities of the air by the word ‘Vayu”.
Etymology and English translation based on Anvaya (logical connection of words) of Maharshi Dayanad Saraswati (M.D.S)- -
He=O! (sabheśa)=President of the Assembly, (bhavān)=you. (yathā)=like, (ayam)=this, (hiraṇyahastaḥ)= like the movement of a golden hand, (asuraḥ)= giving of life-breath or non-existence of form and qualities, (sunīthaḥ)= beautifully carrying life-breaths, [aura] =and, (sumṛḍīkaḥ)= beautifully happy, (svavān)=having qualities of beautiful touch etc. [aura]=and, (arvāṅ)= gaining velocities by its down to up and zigzag ways, (vāyuḥ)=air, (sarvataḥ)=from all sides, (calati)=moves, (evam)=and (pratidoṣam)= for every night, (gṛṇānaḥ)= praiseworthy by its recital of prayers, (devaḥ)=practicing all behaviors, (duḥkhāni)=to sorrows, (nivārya)=eradicates, [aura]=and, (sukhāni)=to delights, (prāpayitvā)=by obtaining, (asthāt)=gets settled, (tathā)=in the same way, (yātudhānān)= to those bandits who cause pain etc. [aura]=and, (rakṣasaḥ)= wicked thieves etc. from whom we should be protected, (apasevan)=eradicating, (sarvān)=all, (duṣṭān) (nivārayan) )=eradicates, [aura]=and, (śreṣṭhān)=to the best, (yātu)=obtains or gets obtained.
English Translation (K.K.V.) -
O President of the assembly! Like you, it is like the movement of the golden hand giving life or non-disappearance of form and qualities. Beautifully carrying life-breath and beautifully happy, the wind blows from all sides, receiving its exquisite touch, etc. and the seeker of all the deeds worthy of praise with his virtuous statement towards every night, the deity of air removes the sorrows and attains happiness and becomes settled, in the same way, removing those dacoits and thieves who do evil deeds, etc., from whom we should be protected, removes all the wicked and attains the best.

There is vocal latent simile as a figurative in this mantra. O president of the assembly! Just as this wind, with its attractiveness and force prevails during the day, so should you as well. The God who has created the air, etc., which bring happiness with many virtues deserves to be thanked by all.
