यजुर्वेद - अध्याय 27/ मन्त्र 11
ऊ॒र्ध्वाऽ अ॑स्य स॒मिधो॑ भवन्त्यू॒र्ध्वा शु॒क्रा शो॒चीष्य॒ग्नेः।द्यु॒मत्त॑मा सु॒प्रती॑कस्य सू॒नोः॥११॥
स्वर सहित पद पाठऊ॒र्ध्वाः। अ॒स्य॒। स॒मिध॒ इति॑ स॒म्ऽइधः॑। भ॒व॒न्ति॒। ऊ॒र्ध्वा। शु॒क्रा। शो॒चीषि॑। अ॒ग्नेः। द्यु॒मत्त॒मेति॑ द्यु॒मत्ऽत॑मा। सु॒प्रती॑क॒स्येति॑ सु॒ऽप्रती॑कस्य। सू॒नोः ॥११ ॥
स्वर रहित मन्त्र
ऊर्ध्वाऽअस्य समिधो भवन्त्यूर्ध्वा शुक्रा शोचीँष्यग्नेः । द्युमत्तमा सुप्रतीकस्य सूनोः ॥
स्वर रहित पद पाठ
ऊर्ध्वाः। अस्य। समिध इति सम्ऽइधः। भवन्ति। ऊर्ध्वा। शुक्रा। शोचीषि। अग्नेः। द्युमत्तमेति द्युमत्ऽतमा। सुप्रतीकस्येति सुऽप्रतीकस्य। सूनोः॥११॥
Translation -
Uplifting are the kindling woods of this fire divine and uplifting and most enlightening are the brilliant glows of this fair-faced, worthy son. (1) (Samidh = kindling wood).
Notes -
This and the following eleven verses form an Aprī or Propitiatory hymn. It is found with some variations in the Atharvaveda V. 27. 1-12. Supratīkasya sūnoḥ, of this fair-faced son. Agni is con sidered the son of the sacrificer, as being produced and main tained by him. Socimşi, brilliant glows. Dyumattamā, forयुमत्तमानि । द्यौः दीप्तिः येषां तानि द्युमन्तिः; अत्यन्तं द्युमन्ति द्युमत्तमानि विश्वप्रकाशकानि । Dyauh is radiance or light; those having utmost brilliance; illuminators of all the world.
