स॒प्त क्ष॑रन्ति॒ शिश॑वे म॒रुत्व॑ते पि॒त्रे पु॒त्रासो॒ अप्य॑वीवृतन्नृ॒तानि॑। उ॒भे इद॑स्यो॒भे अ॑स्य राजत उ॒भे य॑तेते उ॒भे अ॑स्य पुष्यतः ॥

स्वर रहित मन्त्र
सप्त क्षरन्ति शिशवे मरुत्वते पित्रे पुत्रासो अप्यवीवृतन्नृतानि। उभे इदस्योभे अस्य राजत उभे यतेते उभे अस्य पुष्यतः ॥

Translation -
Seven faculties work for the soul, full of Pranas (breaths). Just as sons perform various deeds for their father, so do the Pranas, the sons of the soul, spread truth and knowledge for the soul, their father, nourisher and generator. Two ears contribute to the strength of the soul. Two eyes derive light from the soul. Two nostrils work for the soul, Mouth and tongue strengthen the soul.

Seven faculties: Mind, intellect, five organs of cognition. Sayana interprets सप्त as Seven rivers, which is unacceptable, as there is no history in the Vedas.
