सूक्तम् - रायस्पोषप्राप्ति सूक्त
प्र॑थ॒मा ह॒ व्यु॑वास॒ सा धे॒नुर॑भवद्य॒मे। सा नः॒ पय॑स्वती दुहा॒मुत्त॑रामुत्तरां॒ समा॑म् ॥

स्वर रहित मन्त्र
प्रथमा ह व्युवास सा धेनुरभवद्यमे। सा नः पयस्वती दुहामुत्तरामुत्तरां समाम् ॥

Translation -
O celibate girl; verily, thou dwellest in the house of thy husband, as an excellent, newly married wife. In the house of thy husband, thou art the diffuser ofjoy like a cow. In the same way, let wife in our houses, the giverof ever-increasing happiness, fill them with joy from year to year!

Them refers to houses. एकाष्टका means New Year’s Day. The newly married girl has been compared to एकाष्टका Just as a New Year’s Day is a source of enjoyment, so a newly married girl is a source of happiness to the family of her husband. Pt. Khem Karan Das Trivedi hasapplied this hymn on Matter.
