सूक्तम् - ब्रह्मचर्य सूक्त
आ॑चा॒र्यो मृ॒त्युर्वरु॑णः॒ सोम॒ ओष॑धयः॒ पयः॑। जी॒मूता॑ आस॒न्त्सत्वा॑न॒स्तैरि॒दं स्वराभृ॑तम् ॥
स्वर सहित पद पाठआ॒ऽचा॒र्य᳡: । मृ॒त्यु: । वरु॑ण: । सोम॑: । ओष॑धय: । पय॑: । जी॒मूता॑: । आ॒स॒न् । सत्वा॑न: । तै: । इ॒दम् । स्व᳡: । आऽभृ॑तम् ॥७.१४॥
स्वर रहित मन्त्र
आचार्यो मृत्युर्वरुणः सोम ओषधयः पयः। जीमूता आसन्त्सत्वानस्तैरिदं स्वराभृतम् ॥

Translation -
A teacher punishes the student for his faults, as death punishes men, he consoles the pupil like water, assuages him like Moon, acts as his benefactor like herbs, and stimulator of his spiritual force like butter. The noble qualities of the teacher work like clouds, through which this resplendent world is sustained.
Footnote -
Just as clouds satisfy the thirsty ground with water, so does the teacher satisfy the craving of the pupil for knowledge with his learning.
