अ॒यम॒ग्निः पु॒री॒ष्यो रयि॒मान् पु॑ष्टि॒वर्ध॑नः। अग्ने॑ पुरीष्या॒भि द्यु॒म्नम॒भि सह॒ऽआय॑च्छस्व॥४०॥
स्वर सहित पद पाठअ॒यम्। अ॒ग्निः। पु॒री॒ष्यः᳖। र॒यि॒मानिति॑ रयि॒ऽमान्। पु॒ष्टि॒वर्ध॑न॒ इति॑ पुष्टि॒ऽवर्ध॑नः। अ॒ग्ने। पु॒री॒ष्य॒। अ॒भि। द्यु॒म्नम्। अ॒भि। सहः॑। आ। य॒च्छ॒स्व॒ ॥४०॥
स्वर रहित मन्त्र
अयमग्निः पुरीष्यो रयिमान्पुष्टिवर्धनः । अग्ने पुरीष्याभि द्युम्नमभि सह आ यच्छस्व ॥
स्वर रहित पद पाठ
अयम्। अग्निः। पुरीष्यः। रयिमानिति रयिऽमान्। पुष्टिवर्धन इति पुष्टिऽवर्धनः। अग्ने। पुरीष्य। अभि। द्युम्नम्। अभि। सहः। आ। यच्छस्व॥४०॥
Meaning -
This fire assists us in the accomplishment of our deeds. It is rich, and furtherer of plenty. O God, the Giver of our comforts, bestow splendour and strength upon us.
-
(Pureeshya) पुरीष्य has been translated by Ubbat and Mahidhar, as Master of the cattle. Swami Dayananda translates it as helper in the doing of deeds, and giver of comforts. It means water as well. Vide Nighantu 1-12. It also means earth, vide Shatapath 12-5-2-5.
