रक्षा के लिये प्रयत्न का उपदेश।

पदार्थ

(मरुतः) ऋत्विक् लोग (पर्वतानाम्) पहाड़ों के (अधिपतयः) अधिष्ठाता हैं, (ते) वे (मा) मुझे (अवन्तु) बचावें,... म० १ ॥६॥

भावार्थ

याजक लोग पर्वत आदि स्थानों से ओषधि आदि उत्तम पदार्थों को लाकर उनसे संसार का उपकार करते हैं। उनसे प्रत्येक मनुष्य उपकार लेकर अपनी रक्षा करें ॥६॥

विषय

'पर्वतानाम् अधिपतयः' मरुतः

पदार्थ

१. (मरुतः) = शरीरस्थ प्राण (पर्वतानाम्) = [पर्व पूरणे] सब न्यूनताओं को दूर करके सब पूरणों के (अधिपतयः) = स्वामी हैं। इन प्राणों की साधना [प्राणायाम] के द्वारा मैं अपनी सब न्यूनताओं को दूर करूँ। २. (ते) = वे प्राण (मा अवन्तु) = मेरा रक्षण करें। प्राणसाधना से 'शरीर में स्वस्थ, मन में निर्मल व बुद्धि मंं दीप्त' बनकर मैं जान-प्राति आदि उत्तम कर्मों में लगा रहूँ। शेष पूर्ववत् ।

भावार्थ

प्राणसाधना सब न्यूनताओं को दूर करती हुई व हमारा पूरण करती हुई हमें रक्षित करे।

भाषार्थ

(मरुत: पर्वतानाम् अधिपतयः) मरुत् हैं पर्वतों के अधिपति, (ते मा अवन्तु) वे मेरी रक्षा करें। (अस्मिन् ब्रह्मणि) इस वेदज्ञान की प्राप्ति में, (अस्मिन् कर्मणि) इस वैदिक कर्म में, (अस्याम् पुरोधायाम्) इस संमुख-स्थापित अभिलाषा की पूर्ति में, (अस्याम् प्रतिष्ठायाम् ) इस दृढ़ स्थिति में, (अस्याम्, चित्त्याम्) इस स्मृतिशक्ति में, (अस्याम् आकूत्याम् ) इस संकल्प में, (अस्याम् आशिष्यस्याम्) इस आशा की पूर्ति में, (देवहूत्याम्) दिव्यगुणों या विद्वानों के आह्वान में, (स्वाहा) यह उत्तम कथन हुआ है।

विषय

परमेश्वर से धर्म-कार्य में रक्षा की प्रार्थना।

भावार्थ

(मरुतः) वायुएं जिस प्रकार (पर्वतानाम्) उच्च शिखरों वाले पर्वतों या मेघों के (अधि-पतयः) अधिपति हैं अपने वेग से उन तक वर्षा के जल पहुंचाने वाले और मेघों को सर्वत्र उड़ा ले जाने वाले हैं उसी प्रकार पर्व = पोरुओं के बने देहों के अधिपति ये प्राण हैं। ये पूर्वोक्त शुभ कार्यों में (मा अवन्तु) मेरी रक्षा करें।

Self-Protection, Brahma Karma

Meaning

Maruts are the controlling forces of the clouds and mountains. May they protect and promote me in this holy pursuit of divine knowledge, in this particular programme, in this pious priestly undertaking, in this prestigious position, in this plan, in this resolution, in this discipline and benediction, and in this yajna of the divinities. This is the voice of the soul, in truth.

Translation

The cloud-bearing winds (Maruts) are the lords of mountains; may they favour me in this prayer, in this rite, in this priestly representation, in this firm standing, in this intent (or idea), in this design, in this benediction, and in this invocation of the bounties of Nature. Svahà.

Translation

Marutah, the 49 aerial or gaseous elements are the master powers of clouds and mountains, let these protect me in this attainment of knowledge, in this my act, in this my sacerdotal undertaking, in this my act of life's Stability, in this intention, in this my deliberate activity. in this performance expectation and prosperity and in this my activity of yajna and science. Whatever is uttered herein is correct.

Translation

Lords of the mountains, may the airs preserve me, in this my study of the Vedas, in this duty of mine, in this my sacerdotal charge, in this noble performance, in this meditation, in this my resolve and determination, in this administration, in this assembly of the learned. May this noble prayer of mine be fulfilled.
